Our Mission
Founded in 2020 by Lisa Saltzman in honour of her late parents, the renowned art collectors, art patrons and philanthropists Ralph and Muriel Saltzman, the Foundation is dedicated to championing emerging talent in the arts. Through a series of major international awards — including the Ralph Saltzman Prize at London’s Design Museum, the Saltzman Prize at the Center for Photography at Woodstock, where Lisa is also a Trustee, and the Saltzman–Leibovitz Photography Prize — the Foundation supports the next generation of artists at pivotal moments in their careers.
The Saltzman Family Foundation reflects a lifelong dialogue with art. Ralph and Muriel Saltzman began collecting as newlyweds; weekend gallery visits gradually evolved into a sustained commitment to artists and cultural institutions in the United States and abroad. Guided by instinct and curiosity, they acquired works that invited daily engagement: sculptures animating the garden, drawings and photographs punctuating domestic space, and paintings that reward sustained looking.
Today, the Foundation extends this legacy by investing in emerging artists worldwide, fostering visibility, opportunity, and long-term cultural impact.
